The Power of Your Personal Testimony!

Today we will look at the apostle Paul's testimony to the Galatians. He is sharing his tesimony to give validity to his calling, and most importantly, to verify the accuracy of the gospel which he preached.

When is the last time you shared your testimony? As we will see today, our testimony has three basic components:
                        1) Our life before Christ
                        2) Our personal encounter with Christ
                        3) Our life since Christ
I think it is also important to know we have different testimonies other than our salvation testimony. Perhaps God has delivered you from a major crisis, or a difficult time in your life. These stories need to be shared with others. REMEMBER THAT YOUR TESTIMONY IS POWERFUL!

40 Day Revolution

Today is an extra special Sunday as we will be commissioning our youth as they begin their 40 Day Revolution. In addition adults will be encouraged to join our youth as prayer partners and begin 40 Days to Transformation themselves.

Listen carefully today to God's Spirit to see if He is inviting you to take this 40 day journey with Him. Will it be uncomfortable? For sure. Will it be worth it? Without a doubt!

Also, begin to prayerfully consider how God wants to transform you and the world around you for His glory.

The Gospel Guardian

Have you ever heard something you desperately disagreed with, but you didn't have the courage to speak up? I think all of us have been guilty at some time or another. We should pray God would give us a greater boldness.

The apostle Paul was indeed a bold "Gospel Guardian". A gospel guardian is one who possesses the truth, proclaims the truth, and protects the truth no matter what the cost. We are living in a day when our values, principles adn our faith is being challenged. We need students, parents, pastors, and all Christians to take a strong stand. What about you? Are you willing to take a stand for God, no matter the cost?

Called Into The Ministry

I am excited today to begin a study in the book of Galatians. This morning will primarily be an introduction because it is important to 'lay a foundation.'

Paul is the obvious author and is writing to the churches scattered throughout what is modern day Asia Minor. The churches addressed would have been the churches located in Iconium, Lystra, Antioch of Pisidia and Derbe.

Paul is writing this letter because of a blatant attempt to discredit him personally, and thus to undermine his doctrine. As we will see, he was not a happy camper!

Paul defends his call into the ministry. He affirms it was not a call from men but from the Lord. Every minister should have the same claim

Eternal Security

Is it possible to lose your salvation? Can you know Jesus as your personal Savior, and then at some point do something so terrible the Lord disinherits you?

All os us can probably think of someone we have known that used to be very involved in church. Perhaps they were even a leader in the church, but now they have no desire to serve. Has that person lost their salvation? Perhaps a better question would be,'Is it possible for a person to belong to a church and to be very active, and never know Jesus?'

This has been debated for centuries and will continue to be until the Lord comes back. My goal today is to show you from the Scriptures why we as Baptists believe that you cannot lose your salvation.

God's Plan for Discipleship

I love to see people come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. As heaven rejoices over one sinner who turns to Christ, I also believe there is much grief when believers stop growing. Being a Christian is a commitment to follow Jesus, not for a day, or a month, or a season but the rest of your life.

Most of the problems we have in our churches are a direct result of spiritual immaturity. The fifth purpose of the church is to "teach others to observe all that Christ has taught." Are you growing as a believer?

Today we will look at God's five step plan for discipleship. It is not a smorgasbord. none of these steps are to be excluded. They all work in conjuction.

WOW!!

The grand opening for the ROC was simply, "Amazing!" We had a crowd estimated to be around 500. It met all of my expectations. I was so excited to see our community turn out.

We want to again express our appreciation for all of the dedication and hard work that so many put into the preparation for the opening. It could not have been possible without your extreme effort.

I want to ask each of you to be patient. There are still some construction issues yet to be completed. We cannot announce a full operational schedule until the building is released to us from the contractor. In the mean time, feel free to contact Kurtis with any of your questions.

Baptized Into Fellowship

There has always been and continues to be a lot of confusion about water baptism. Is baptism necessary for salvation? Does it matter if I am sprinkled or immersed? What about infant baptism? When should I be baptized?

Go Make Disciples

This is the third of five messages concerning the "Purpose Driven Church". Today we will look at the esssential command given by Jesus to make disciples.

Dr. Joe Aldrich tells the following story. "The party around the pool was held to celebrate the first summer in memory without a drowning at the New Orleans city pool. In honor of the occasion, 200 people gathered, including 100 certified lifeguards. As he party was breaking up and the four lifeguards on duty began to clear the pool, they found a fully dressed body in the deep end. They tried to revive Jerome Moody, 31, but it was too late. He had drowned surrounded by lifeguards celebrating their successful season."

Remember: We are God's lifeguards!

A Love Test For The Church

Have you ever found yourself just “going through the motions” without the emotion or devotion you once had? It’s not that you’re neglecting your responsibility, but you no longer enjoy it. Somewhere along the way it’s as if you forgot what your original motivation was.

This can easily happen even in our worship. The church of Ephesus was a great example. They were functioning, but without their first love. Two weeks ago we observed that the first and most important command to the church is to “love the Lord our God, with all of our heart, soul, and with all of our mind.”

Today, we’re going to take a look at how the Lord confronted the apostle Peter, with this most important question: “Do you love me?”

Becoming A Purpose Driven Church

So, who hasn’t heard about Rick Warren and the “Purpose Driven Life?” It was on the New York Times best seller list for quite some time. Why was it so popular? I believe the answer is very simple. People are searching for their purpose on this earth.

Rick Warren is the pastor of Saddleback Church in Orange County California. It is one of the largest Southern Baptist Churches in our Convention.

As you have heard me say, ‘This isn’t Orange County, and I’m not Rick Warren.’ That being true, I do believe there is a lot we can learn from the principles that I believe are very sound, and very Christ centered.

I would like to present to you today what a “Purpose Driven Church” looks like, and how it works. Please have an open heart and an open mind.

A Test of Character

How important is character? As we will see from today’s passage character and integrity are extremely important. Character was important 3,000 years ago, and it’s important today.

As a Christian, if we do not maintain a high level of character, we will be ineffective witnesses for Christ. In fact, we will indeed turn many away from the faith if we compromise our integrity.

I am convinced there needs to be a revival of integrity among God’s people today. How’s your character?

What Is Success?

Our reward on this earth may not be fortune or fame. We may never be a household name, but I’ll assure you, serving God is never in vain. Whatever you choose to do in this life, don’t be sucked in to a vacuum of strife. God has much better for your life. Remember, godliness with contentment is great gain. One day we will all stand before the Son of the living God. There we will be face to face, standing there only by His grace. He will speak each our own name, and ask us how we lived our lives. “What was your focus, what was your aim? Did you give yourself to the passing pleasures of life, or did you live a life of selfless sacrifice? Were you busy storing up earthly treasures that can not remain or did you focus on bringing honor to My name?”

Two weeks ago we began a series entitled, "Giving- A Way of Living." We discussed three foundational truths that are essential to understanding the total stewardship of our lives. First, a principle that must be understood, "God owns everything!" Second, an attitude that must be maintained is an attitude of "Thankfulness." Third, an action that must be taken is an action of "Obedience."

Today we are looking at a great biblical example of a group of people who understood thes principles, and lived accordingly.

Giving: A Way of Living

We've all heard that it is better to give than to receive. When I was a little boy I used to think, "Yeah right," but the older I get the more truth I see in that saying. I see it through joy of those who have learned how to give in every area of their lives.

Today, we begin a series on giving. I hope that the next few weeks we can learn together what God says about the total stewardship of our lives. I want to lay a very important foundation upon which the rest of the series will build. God bless you and thanks for coming to the house of the Lord this morning.

If You Love Me...

Do you love God? That may seem like a funny question to ask people at church, but today I want each of us to answer the question "Do I love God?" You see, the Bible is very clear about what we will do if we love God, so maybe the best way for us to know if we truly love God is to see if we are doing the things that God says people who love Him do.

Togetherness

Togetherness is magnified in the Word to tell God's people He is dead serious about His church being together in worship and fellowship and being of one mind and one spirit in the Lord Jesus.

The message today is to focus on the Lord Jesus who is the cornerstone of this church and the head of the body. Maybe we need to fall in love again with Jesus and ask Him to bring us together that we can keep our eyes on what is right and good.

Please pray for the message and the messenger that God can speak to us and open our hearts and our eyes.

Events Leading to the Cross

Today we will be looking at eight major events in the life of Jesus leading up to the cross. After reviewing these events we will participate in the Lord's Supper. If you are a guest today, we want you to feel free to join us as we remember Jesus' sacrifice and renew our commitment to follow Him.

Membership in our church is not required to participate. This is God's table, so all who belong to Him through faith in Christ are welcome here.

Additionally as believers, it is important to examine ourselves to make sure our relationship with God and with each other is in good order. We will take some time to prepare our hearts as we approach the Lord's table.

Thank you for joining us this morning. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you in your relationship with God

Drawing Water From A Dry Well

I remember an episode in “Gunsmoke” (A famous western series for you the younger among us) where Festus was in the desert for several days without water. He finally made his way into an old deserted town, and crawled up to an abandoned well. He anxiously turned the crank and drew up a bucket of dry worthless sand. Fortunately, just before he died Marshal Dillon showed up with a canteen of life saving water.

Today we will see how Jesus brought living water to a person whose life was dry and empty. Her soul was parched with disappointments, but in Christ she found new hope, and then she took that hope to others!

Each of our lives is like a well. It is either dry, stale, or flowing with life giving water!

I am so very thankful to be a part of the "Family of God"! I am thankful to be part of this local body of believers. God has given us a wonderful opportunity to make an impact on our community and our world.

I am convinced if we have the right desire and the right direction, God is going to do some awesome things through the people of First Baptist Church. It is imperative we build strong lasting relationships with each other, because our enemy, Satan, will work like the devil to keep us from claiming God's best.

The Family Plan

I, am without, a doubt the very worst at putting things together for Christmas. I invariably refuse to, “Read the Directions!” As bad as my history is, somehow I think, “This year it will be different.”

Unfortunately, we are much the same way regarding the management of our marriages and homes. National statistics reveal the fact that we’re not doing too good. Have we also forgotten that God has provided a written plan for the family? (It’s called the Bible) Let’s get back to the Bible, and our families will benefit greatly!

A Success or a Mess

When you build a building it is extremely important to lay a firm foundation. Concrete consists of several different ingredients. Individually the ingredients would not be strong enough to support a structure, but when mixed together properly it forms a solid base which will hold an incredible amount of weight.

Our life is the same way. When we build our lives and our relationships on the solid rock of God's Word and God's way, it will stand. But if we build on the shifting sands of this world's philosophy, it will invariably fall.

Building Lasting Relationships-Part One

We are relationally created! We all need relationships and most of us desire relationships. The key to having healthy relationships is through the understanding we must know God personally, and our relationship with Him is a growing relationship. Only as we mature in Christ can we grow in our other realtionships. In this series we will discuss how we strengthen our relationship with God, spouses, children, community and our realtionship with each other as a church family. I hope you will make a strong effort to join us in this very important study.

Sound the Alarm

People seem to always respond to the sound of an alarm. We have alarm clocks to wake us up. Smoke alarms to to alert us to the danger of a fire, and sirens to warn us of an approaching storm. Most of the time people respond immediately to an alarm, but unfortunately we're often slow to respond to the warnings sent to us by God.

Today, I want to sound an alarm. It is not my intent to be negative or over-reactive, nevertheless I see signs of a very grave and dangerous situation. The good news is there is still time to react!

Love

Over the past three weeks we've looked at hope, peace and joy. Today we will focus on God's magnificent love. John 3:16 is probably the most memorized verse in the entire Bible, but not necessarily the most understood. In looking at this incredible verse we learn much about God, much about ourselves and much about eternity.

Please note there are two sections to the sermon
