Everything

I was talking to a friend the other day who said she had been disheartened lately.  She grabbed an old Bible off the shelf…you know one of those well-loved, well-worn ones that open up by themselves and pages fall out?

She started reading in Ecclesiastes.  Have you ever read that particular book in the Bible?  It’s pretty depressing! Most of the book reads “everything is meaningless”.  Not something a discouraged person wants to read.

She went to work and had a conversation with her co-worker about it.  She came to the realization that in all the chaos and troubles surrounding her, all her worries were the things that were meaningless; she just needed to rest in the peace of God.  He was telling her to focus on Him and do the job He has called her to do and to not worry about the rest.

This world of ours seems crazy and out of control at times. It can be so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind that leaves us stressed, discouraged, angry or overwhelmed, instead of focusing on the peace that God has for us.

There is so much in this life that is meaningFUL.

This life is a journey.  It’s not a sprint, but a marathon.  We aren’t going to always have it all together, or always remember to keep our focus on Jesus.  That’s just human nature.

Hebrews 12:2 says,  “Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith…”

Let’s focus on Him and take advantage
of enjoying the days He has given us.

By the way, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 is the best part…
