Be Kind
Matthew 5:13-16 says, “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
What does it mean to be salt and light?
Salt changes the taste of things/preserves things; light chases away the darkness. We’re talking about being an agent of change. To be an agent of change, we must have been changed ourselves…
We are first and foremost, to have a relationship with Jesus (accept Him as our Savior), and live our lives for Him. Secondly, we are to be salt and light (our actions in this world), so that others will see our behavior and our good works, which in turn will glorify God.
You know, I feel like most of what we do and how we should live, is just being KIND….if we are kind to people, truly kind, how could that change the world? What kind of impact could that even make?
I read a story about a teacher who praised his students individually for several minutes each day. He began to notice how those students then began to praise each other. It rubbed off….
Kind of like the “Pay It Forward” deal. Have you ever done something like that? Or had it happen to you?
Think about how you can “let your light shine”, how can you be kind, how can you pay it forward? Go and do it! Be intentional about it, because if we aren’t intentional in our actions, time will be lost.
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ…”
