Undignified

Mark 10:46-48 says, ”Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus, was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

I have pondered these verses many times.  We don’t know why this man was blind, but it resulted in him becoming a beggar.  He was at such a low point in his life and when he heard Jesus was coming, he was filled with hope.  Since he couldn’t see Jesus, he began to shout to try to get his attention.  All of the people around him were telling him to be quiet.

What did he do?  “HE SHOUTED ALL THE MORE”!

In 2 Samuel 6:21-22, King David says, “I will celebrate before the Lord. I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes.”

Rend Collective has a song called “Undignified” and the chorus says:
And I will be undignified
And I will praise the Lord my God with all my might
And I will leave my pride behind
And I will praise the Lord my God with all my life

Are we willing to leave our pride behind and praise the Lord with all of our might?  Are we worried about what others might think of us?  Are we willing to call out to Him no matter what?

Just like King David or Bartimaeus, I want to praise the Lord with all my might and not worry about what people might think.  I pray they would see Jesus in my life no matter what is going on around me.
